Haha, there’s a bunch of stuff… where to start? 😀
First of all some of the profile settings are hidden so good, that i (spending 10+ hours in front of the pc daily, hosting a few webpages myself) wasn’t even able to figure out how to change the profile picture. (that might be my stupidity though).
Also i noticed that the current way the “Discussion” under each post is organized is more a shopping list than a comment section. I had a hard time to just find this comment again, so i’d recommend to sort them in a way that you see the new comments on top and maybe split it up into more pages in case there’s a huge load of comments like there is on this post. (you could also implement a dedicated section for comments with replys from the admins/mods and maybe even add a tiny comment search)
Some other stuff you could do would be adding a sorta “forum-type page” with 2 or more sections. One where only animators/artists with permission can create topics e.g. about the project they’re currently working on to ask the community about how they like it etc. and another one for the other folks to ramble about all kinds of stuff with the option for admins/moderators to highlight certain posts, make them sticky or whatever. All the other posts could automaticaly be deleted after e.g. 1-2 years to save up data space for more important stuff.
Some more things that are way easyer than implementing a whole forum could be replacing the current “picture of the day” thingy with a proper slideshow that is set to an long duration for each picture, starting at a random one. (for that a fixed size for the slideshow would be recommended.)
In my oppinion that would look the best if you placed that on the very top of the page, with the sites main menu implemented into the same frame at the bottom. (kinda EQD-ish but for that to look nice with regular format pictures you’d need a really good scripted one with the slideshow having smooth fade to transparent, making tha main sites background shine through to achieve a nice look. But i’m also guessing that this won’t work because of the ad that’s up there and has to be there in the first place)
And the background obviously needs some work done.
This got longer than i intended it to be :D, anyway, tell me what you think about my nonsense (uhm if you don’t mind that is) but i’ll probably write some more stupid ideas here anyway.
